WFMY TV News 2 reported this morning that "personal borrowing increased by $19 billion in 2011." Then it claimed, "This is a sign that confidence in the economy is increasing."

The "spin" the Progressives wish everyone to believe right now is designed to help re-elect President Obama. But the spin is patently false. NEWS 2 chose the term "borrowing" instead of the word "charging." I suspect the use of CHARGE CARDS increased in 2011 because the unemployed and under-employed had no choice but to use them to pay bills and purchase essentials.

Case study: Me! Eight years ago while unemployed and without health insurance I became very ill with cancer. I had no choice but to use my two credit cards and run them up to their limit. My "personal borrowing" had nothing to do with my confidence in the economy.

In an essay published today called PRESIDENT OBAMA'S INCREDIBLY SHRINKING LABOR FORCE, Newt Gingrich explains that "President Obama's claim that new jobs numbers is proof that his policies were having an effect on the unemployment rate, which the report said declined to 8.3 percent in January."
"The President is right about one thing: his big government agenda and class warfare tactics are having an effect -- but it's not the one he claims. In truth, last month's drop in the unemployment statistic was due largely to the evaporation of 1.2 million people from the labor force. When people become so discouraged they stop looking for work, they are no longer counted as "unemployed" and the rate goes down even though Americans are hardly better off than they were before."

"The rate went down in January because (apparently) 1.2 million people decided in a single month not to pursue work. This is the number, in effect, that President Obama is touting."

The Associated Press released a BIG STORY Monday about NASA finding an earth-like planet it has named Kepler-22b. “This is a phenomenal discovery in the course of human history!” said Geoff Marcy of the University of California Berkeley. He’s one of the pioneers of “planet hunting” outside our solar system (and he’s probably funded by a government grant).

The very last line of the lengthy AP story should have come first. NASA admitted its best manned spacecraft would take 22 million years to reach Kepler-22b. Therefore, the folly of planet-searching becomes apparent. What we have here amounts to a jobs program for rocket scientists.

The AP story failed to mention that NASA has no way of knowing if Kepler-22b is still there. The light from 22b entering our telescope is 600 YEARS OLD! That means if 22b was destroyed by a black hole 400 years ago, NASA would keep studying 22b for another 200 years!

Given the dismal state of the economy, does anyone besides me worry how many futile government projects there are like this one that are funded with borrowed money that our grandchildren must pay back?

The city of Greensboro is reporting that it now has 260,083 residents.

What it doesn’t dare report is that its 260,083 residents purchase less water today than 212,000 residents purchased 15 years ago. That's the city's dirty little secret.

Greensboro's citizens wrongly assume that water use has skyrocketed just like Greensboro predicted it would when it was pitching its dam project.

1. After the Randleman Dam was approved the city quickly removed all the financial incentives it was offering to use more water and lower its reservoirs.

FrankH from the Multiple Myeloma ListServ sent me an email containing a critical correction to my math. I had the retail price of a pound of Revlimid (my cancer drug) at $320,000. I was wrong. It’s much more!

FrankH reminded me that only a tiny fraction of the Revlimid capsule is the “active ingredient.” The majority of the capsule’s weight comes from inert stuff like binders and fillers. Great catch Frank!

I’ve completed my two-year analysis of We 101 content and I’ve discovered that it contains news, information and opinion not only from the PEOPLE of Greensboro but also from NEWS MEDIA BUSINESSES of Greensboro.

Wait a minute. Establishment news businesses already own the microphones, cameras and presses ....and still they need the people's forum to get their job done?

Big media is already the prince of the power of the air and of the ink. It routinely rejects what regular people and amateur bloggers say and write. In fact, it won't even publish blogger's links to non-establishment information available on the World Wide Web! YES! WEAKLY even has the audacity to publish at We 101 what it is featuring this week in its own newspaper. Give us a break!

We 101 should be the hub for people blogs, not news business blogs seeking the best of both worlds. That’s my opinion, and that’s what We 101 claims it is here for—opinion. Thank you We 101 for doing for us what the establishment media won't.

QUESTION: Would the Greensboro News & Record print this post if it was submitted as a letter to the editor? Snowball's chance. That's why excluding the establishment news media from a hub like We 101 is fair play. We 101 should be a hub for information published by the people, for the people. Dark Matter and the Light of the world

My August issue of DISCOVER magazine contains a story about the scientists attempting to identify what holds the universe together. Hmmmm, seems like I have heard this before. They claim that matter should fly apart—but strangely atoms and molecules somehow stay together rather than fly apart. The story says that even galaxies like the Milky Way should disintegrate, but mysteriously that same "something" is holding them together.

Columbia physicist Elena Aprile was interviewed by DISCOVER. She says the something is “dark matter” and she is destined to be the first person to find some. Her DISCOVER interviewer Fred Guterl wrote this…..

“Dark matter sounds like some physicist’s tall tale: there is this invisible matter, see, and it has this powerful gravitational effect on galaxies. That's why we know it exists. Problem is, dark matter doesn't reflect or absorb light so we can't see it. Oh, and it rarely interacts with conventional atoms so we can't feel it either. However we know it makes up a huge part of the universe, so we keep looking for it.”

I am a Bible-believing Christian—a physicist’s worst nightmare I suppose. There is an interesting scripture that says, “For in Him (Jesus Christ) all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” —1 Colossians 16–17

I accept the Bible as the word of God. So to me, the “dark matter” that’s physicists cannot find but are certain it exists is none other than Jesus Christ, the Light of the world. How ironic. Christ the Light is a person who mysteriously holds everything together. And if there is such a thing as dark matter, He made it!

I Googled physicist Elena Aprile hoping I would find her email address. She was featured in a 2003 story from Columbia University where she just received a $1 million grant to find some dark matter. Not surprisingly the 2010 story seven years later in my DISCOVER magazine was nearly identical to the 2003 version ......and she still has yet to find even a smidgen of dark matter.

I believe according to the scriptures it is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who holds all things together. The Bible says He made every atom and every galaxy—and He makes them stay together. It’s not a mystery for me.

Water is one of the few compounds on earth that expands when it cools. God made it an exception so ice would float instead of sink .....and not choke out the life He was placing on earth. I guess when you are powerful enough to make something out of nothing you also get to make up the rules and the exceptions that govern what you have made.

I imagine when a scientist comes to the CREATION conclusion he/she is no longer considered a scientist by other scientists seeking grant money to search for the dark matter that mysteriously holds everything together.

Columbia published Elena Aprile's email address. I sent her the biblical answer to the so-called mystery of why things don't fly apart. I'm sure that I'm not the first person to send her 1 Colossians 16-17.

Employee fired for tardiness and absenteeism receives NC unemployment benefits

A friend of mine is the plant manager of a small production company near Charlotte. He told me that recently he fired a woman for tardiness and absenteeism. His company uses a “point system” for warnings and discipline. You get one “point” for being late to work—and the points are eventually forgiven after a period of time. But if you reach 8 points you are fired. That’s the company policy.

This woman had reached 8 points and she was fired. She applied for unemployment benefits and her claim was denied. Then she appealed the denial to Raleigh and the decision was overturned. She is now receiving NC unemployment benefits which could last an entire year.

Most think that only worthy people who lose their jobs receive unemployment benefits. Not true! The fact that this woman beat the system shows that the unemployment system is broken. I wonder how often this happens. Does this outrage you like it does me?

RACIAL FAVORITISM?
My friend also told me that this terminated woman with the poor work record was of a minority race—and the Raleigh official who awarded her unemployment benefits was of the same minority race. Is this a case of favoritism because of race?

The next time you hear how the government is running out of unemployment money and Congress wants to grant more funding, think about how many loafers are beating the system.

DRUG TESTING FOR BENEFITS
Most employees have to pass drug tests to get their paychecks. Why shouldn't those on unemployment and welfare also have to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits?

The Dash opponents for the opener, the Potomac Nationals are calling Lassiter’s plan insane. “IT'S A BASEBALL DIAMOND, NOT A FREAKIN' BASEBALL TRIANGLE!” yelled 3rd base coach Sparky Dutch of the Potomac Nationals over the telephone. Lassiter claims that Dutch is upset because he won't be able to coach 3rd base on April 13th.

The Florida Times-Union is reporting TODAY (See story) that a top aide to Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton is the new head of the Florida Department of Transportation. Alan Mosley, 53, the chief administrative officer for the city of Jacksonville, was named today as FDOT District Secretary.

"Mosley was a key figure in the controversial Trail Ridge landfill deal that ended when the City Council refused the mayor’s request to grant Waste Management a contract extension worth an estimated $750 million over 35 years."

"During the final days of the Trail Ridge debate (in 2009), former Jacksonville public utilities director Allan Williams said Mosley pushed him into signing an affidavit that said Williams believed the original 1990 contract gave Waste Management the right to operate the Trail Ridge site."

"Williams, now director of water resources in Greensboro, N.C. said he didn’t believe the affidavit, but he was pressured to sign it by Mosley even though it backed Waste Management’s position against the city. Williams said Mosley described the contract in a way that made him think signing the affidavit was helping the city."

It appears that Williams resigned from his Jacksonville post during the controversial Trail Ridge landfill deal and became Greensboro's water chief during the controversial Randleman Dam deal. There is no doubt that when he "signed on" with Greensboro he had to agree that Randleman Dam was the only solution to Greensboro's water woes.

So by joining GSO Williams became the chief dam scammer replacing retiring dam scammer Ray Shaw who had a career dream of building the Randleman Dam. Ever since arriving in 1997 Williams has spun everything he's said and done to make the dam appear essential to Greensboro's survival. For example, Williams dramatizes every drought to infer just how doomed Greensboro would be without the Randleman Dam. That's not true.

Water use has declined since 1995 and Williams will be the last person to ever admit that. And during the 15-year decline in water sales Williams has expanded the water works—something only a monopoly can do.

Someday after his departure Williams may admit again that "He was pressured into signing something he did not believe in."

I watched Williams make on-camera pleas for more water conservation and then off-camera tell his staff that we have to sell more water. Why?—because water sales were declining and his budget was suffering. Williams closed Greensboro's award-winning water conservation office.

Now Williams is concealing every bit of information about Greensboro's water history and the bogus claim that the city was "running out of water." His water website contains no information that would alert the public that water use (water sales) has declined since 1995. Citizens are in the dark.

Greensboro print media chiefs Robinson, Hammer, and Green have never reported William's "pressured affidavit" and admitted error over the controversial $750 million dollar Jacksonville landfill deal. It's just one more Dam Scam EXCLUSIVE!

The real reason for the decrease in Greensboro Crime

The Greensboro Police and the News & Record are happy to report a tiny decrease in the 2009 crime rate (See Jan. 11 News & Record story).

Yet in October, an 80-year-old Greensboro resident, Charles Haithcock, shot and killed burglar Michael Lamont Medley Jr. as he was breaking into Haithcock’s Walnut Street apartment one block away from the police substation (See Oct. 14 N&R story). Medley was armed with a deadly weapon and had a lengthy rap sheet. He died in the ER.

Had Haithcock not “taken out” bad guy Medley with his handgun, Medley would have likely continued his crime spree for the three remaining months of 2009 ….and maybe even erased Greensboro’s tiny decrease in 2009 crime.

And if Medley’s early departure from the Greensboro crime scene is not enough, two other armed Greensboro homeowners foiled burglary attempts at their residences in 2009 by firing weapons and scaring the living daylights out of fleeing intruders.

So it’s entirely possible that Greensboro’s armed citizens caused the crime rate to dip in 2009. These residents with guns stopped break-ins that could have ended in violent crimes like assault, rape and murder.

Here's one thing for sure—Greensboro gun owners were 100% effective in preventing 3 break-ins in 2009 that Greensboro Police did not stop. And the deceased perp will never commit another crime. In fact, 80-year-old Haithcock has already significantly reduced Greensboro's 2010 crime rate by killing his intruder.

And speaking of SMOKING GUNS…..

Citizens should carefully note how the City of Greensboro and the Greensboro News & Record were quick to report the tiny decrease in 2009 crime ...but refuse to report the 15 year decrease in water use (water sales). Nobody but my readers know that water use has declined since 1995. Both the City and the N&R are keeping it a secret.

When it is to the City's advantage, the pair is quick to create headlines about a tiny decrease. But in order to conceal the Randleman Dam Scam fraud and cover-up, the pair have remained completely silent about the substantial decline in water use (water sales).

The current process is too hard, too confusing and too expensive. In other words, it’s entirely counterproductive. There are millions of great ideas out there that are not being developed. WASHINGTON — The $787 billion economic recovery package is stimulating growth in the federal government as agencies hire thousands of workers and spend millions of dollars to oversee and implement the package, according to government records and spokesmen.

Fourteen of the top federal agencies responsible for spending under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act say they've hired about 3,000 workers with stimulus money. That's helped fuel the continued growth of the federal government, which increased by more than 25,000 employees, or 1.3%, since December 2008, according to the latest quarterly report. During that time, unemployment increased by nearly 4 million, Labor Department statistics show.

Stimulus critics such as Rep. Darrell Issa of California, the top Republican on the House oversight committee, say the package has enlarged the federal bureaucracy without making a dent in the nation's unemployment rate, which was 9.7% in August. "The only thing we have seen stimulated by this package has been the size of the federal government," Issa said.

Socialist politicians love issues like "global warming" because they allow them to allocate resources (tax dollars) without ever having to prove the investments are making a difference. Trillions will be spent on global warming world-wide without any measurement of an actual reduction in global temperature.

Afterthough: The practice of funding silly programs that accomplish nothing and can never be evaluated is not confined to Democrats. Republican lawmakers have sent millions of anti-terrorism dollars into tiny communities around the US that no terrorist would ever target.

Communities used anti-terrorism dollars to purchase large and small-ticket items without even seeking competitive bids. WFMY SNEWS 2 tossed out a teaser today hoping to lure you back to its 6:00pm newscast tonight to learn hy a resident fired 3 shots after some bad guys attempted a break-in at his home.

It turns out the perps were juveniles and the homeowner was cited with "discharging a weapon within city limits." The youths appear to be black but WFMY SNEWS 2 did not make that clear.

This story has all the makings of a hit! The victim, the target of the burglary is arrested. The perps are just boys. They are black boys. The victim is white. The shots were fired while the delinquents were fleeing the scene. No doubt the local news will squeeze this story for all its worth, framing the event to its own benefit and not for the benefit of its readers and viewers.

This seems to be the standard operating procedure today for the news industry and it is very annoying. TRANSLATION: Today's news is self-serving and not people-serving!x
